The 96th Academy Awards are happening tonight, and of all the nominated movies, zero are for horror films. So, I wanted took at why horror seems to be so marginalized in mainstream awards circles, the history of horror films that have been able punch through that barrier, and if it is even essential for horror to be accepted by mainstream awards. That's right monsters, For this episode, I will be discussing "The Horror of The Oscars!"

EPISODE 74: "Needful Things (1993)"

For this episode we are in Castle Rock, Maine, where the devil has opened up an unassuming shop to tempt you with the object you most desire. But be warned...it will come at a VERY high price.  That’s right monsters, for this episode, I will be discussing the sinister Stephen King tale, NEEDFUL THINGS, from 1993. It’s the Valentine’s episode monsters, and we have an incredible film for you, one that is chock full of sensuality, floaty fabrics, Sapphic energy, gratuitous nudity, goth vibes, blood-sucking, and...Bauhaus. That’s right monsters, for this episode, I will be discussing the sexy vampire film, THE HUNGER, from 1983. For this episode, we have a tale that only Stephen King could tell - one of a small town, a very hungry werewolf, and a young boy with one very badass motorized wheelchair. That’s right monsters, for this episode I will be talking about the classic creature feature, SILVER BULLET, from 1985. In the News Corner, we have news on a potential Coen Brothers horror film, as well as a new Universal theme park "Dark Universe." So grab one of Uncle Red's beers, because this episode is going to get hairy!

EPISODE 70: "Hereditary (2018)"

For this episode, we look at a horror movie that has divided audiences since its release. A sinister tale of the often toxic and insidious nature of families, of grief and trauma, motherhood, and the inherited nature of fate. And also, don’t, under any circumstances, fuck with nut allergies. That’s right, monsters, on this episode, I will be discussing Ari Aster’s HEREDITARY, from 2018. In the News Corner, I'll have SCREAM 7 news, as well the next installment of the "Monster" true crime series from Ryan Murphy. So find a comfortable corner of the ceiling to "Spidey stance" in, because this episode will be one horrific family affair!
 

EPISODE 69: ”Silent Night, Deadly Night 5: The Toy Maker (1991)”

We have reached the end of my Silent Night, Deadly Night Slash-a-Thon, and our final film goes back to its Christmas roots, with lots of killer toys, a Pinocchio with Oedipal issues, and an absolutely unhinged Mickey Rooney. That’s right, monsters, on this episode, I will be discussing SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT 5: THE TOY MAKER, from 1991.
